Cron

  • A cron runs backend work on a schedule.
  • The schedule belongs to node metadata.
  • The public authoring flow remains partial.

Cron Ownership

Use a cron for recurring backend work that does not begin from a page request. The node stores schedule metadata separately from runnable source. The source can load and update entities or write operational logs.

  • Choose a schedule that matches the business lifecycle.
  • Keep the runnable idempotent when repeated execution is possible.
  • Use indexed fields for records selected on every run.
  • Do not depend on an HTTP response contract.
